    Post Apostrophe

In the sentences below, I think I don't need an apostrophe after the word "teachers." In other words, #1 is correct, while #2 isn't. Am I correct? Please help. Thanks.

    1) The dean will approve all teachers and counselors’ pay increase.

    2) The dean will approve all teachers' and counselors’ pay increase.

    Re: Apostrophe

you can try to split up the teachers' and counselors' parts separately and see whether each can stand on its own. so here (2) is correct..

    Re: Apostrophe

    Dear Bobk and sploke,

Thanks very much for your help. How about in the following sentences, am I correct to omit the first apostrophe for Mr. Smith, Peter and Bill?

    - We approved Mr. Smith and Mrs. Smith's auto loan last week.
    - He wanted to borrow Peter and Cindy's car. (husband and wife)
    - Bill and Nancy's total assets are very strong. (husband and wife)

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.
