    Lightbulb idioms

    When we are catholic we usually pray for a saint and make a promise, after receiving what we wanted we have to do what we had promised. What's the expression for that? "Pay a promise"?

    In American English, we "keep a promise."

    I am thinking of "Pay the price"

    Or the word "Penance"?
