Is it supposed to be singular?

In the following example, does the term "resume" not have to be changed to the plural form "resumes" since the subject is "those who" (plural)? If so, why?
    Someone, please explain.

    (Example)
Those who wish to take this lesson must complete their resume before March 1st, 2007.

Re: Is it supposed to be singular?

You could add -s to resume if you want, but be prepared for your reader's interpretation. Ambiguity sets in:

    One meaning only
    [1] their resume
Meaning: each person has one resume

    More than one meaning
    [2] their resumes
Meaning1: each person has more than one resume
Meaning2: each person has one resume

    All the best.

I see, I got your point.
So, even if the term "those who" actually shows "people" (which means more than 1 person), I can use the singular form of "resume" because ambiguity may set in if I use "resumes" instead. Is it correct?
