    Letter for someone else

If I compose a business letter for someone and they read and sign it, do I need to put my name or initials on it somewhere?
    Thanks

Usually you'd vertically space two times under the sender's typed signature and put his initials, a slash, and then your initials in lower case letters.

    example:
    STW/kk

    Re: Letter for someone else

That's new to me. When I write a letter for someone, they read it,they sign it and it's their responsibility. After all, I'm just writing what they want to say.

Is it Ouisch's way in the UK as well?

    Re: Letter for someone else

It's certainly how it used to be in the US (which I know isn't what you asked), but I wonder if it dates back to the days of hard copy files? You might want a copy of the original, which the secretary (the /xx) person would have in her files. So by using the /xx you would know which person would be likely to have the file? Does that sound logical? Now that just about everyone uses a word processor to do their own letters, it's not used very often anymore, I think.
