    correct sentence

When someone pulled the cat's tail, it hissed angrily.

    1. Is 'hissed' correctly used? I thought only snakes hissed.
    2. Is the sentence grammatically correct?

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: correct sentence

    Hi kohyoongliat
    .
Yes, the word 'hissed' is fine.
    .
I'd prefer the sentence this way:
The cat hissed angrily when someone pulled its tail.

    Re: correct sentence

If you want an alternative, then "the cat spat" is acceptable. Either word is used for the noise that cats make when frightened or angry.
