    smuggling

    Hi,

could you please tell me whether it is possible to use the word "smuggling" in the following sentence or whether there is a better expression:

The anti-theft system prevents thefts and smuggling material out of the plant. (smuggling meaning taking out of the plant without permit)

    Thank you very much.

I would add the following "the" and "of". Not sure why, it sounds better.

I also prefer the following definition for the verb "to smuggle":

"If someone smuggles things or people into a place or out of it, they take them there illegally or secretly."
