    Meaning of AS

The first person to try to scratch out a garden most assuredly heard derisive laughter as the mighty hunters headed off in pursuit of meat.

"As" meaning because, or "as" meaning when? Thanks.

    Re: Meaning of AS

    A good question.

    Here you go:

    as (conjunction)

If something happens as something else happens, it happens at the same time.

    Examples:

Another policeman has been injured as fighting continued this morning...
All the jury's eyes were on him as he continued...
The play started as I got there.
