    And expect

The Black Caps, on the other hand did not have a great day on the field with as many as three drop catches, as even the bowlers failed to do anything extra-ordinary.

And expect for a fine century by Scott styris in the first innings, nothing went the Kiwis' way on Thursday.

I understood the first red marked paragraph thoroughly. But when I started reading the second violet marked paragraph, i didn't understand what is the link between the two pargraph.
Because first pargraph says nothing went good against black caps(Newzealand). But in the second pargaraph, Scott Styris has scored century, which tells it is good for their team.
    So, I am being confused.
Could you help me on this?

Are you sure it wasn't except for instead of expect for?

"Except for" look at your sentence, it would make a LOT more sense.

    Re: And expect

They did not do very well in either part of the game; their bowling and fielding wasn't very good, and there batting was poor apart from the one player.
