    emphasized or that have been emphasized

    I am not sure if the tense is right in the following sentence.

    When you prepare for an exam, you should review your notes on the textbook because your notes are hepful to capture important ideas that are emphased ( or that have been emphasized) by your instructors.

    ( also, if you see any mistakes, please let me have your comments.Thanks)
