    Hello sparky!
If instead of 'I have lived here 6 years' you were to use 'I have been living here' would it be better to say 'for the past six years' or could you equally say 'for six years' or just 'six years'? - q

    Welcome, Sparky.

I'm also from Canada - Calgary, AB - and I also lived in Japan for 6 years - Okayama, Nagano, Nagoya, Toyota-cho.

    All the best.

For is omitted, nicely, too. You can sure tell Sparky's a native English speaker. It's colloquial:

Ex: I have lived here (for) 6 years.

    All the best.
