    dead

    Dear teachers,
    Please read the sentence:
    Suddenly the music stopped dead.
I can't find this use in my dictionary. Does the word mean 'completely'? And why is it put after 'stopped'?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
    Thank you in advance.
