    rephrase it

I wanted this encounter with the man I'd come to think of as a second father to be all amotion, embraces, tears. But I realized Otto would probably just shake my hand formally and we would have a very civilized time and that would be that. I was prepared.

I am rephrasing the above paragraph according to my knowledge. Please correct it if I am wrong.

[I wanted to meet this man to whom I consider like a second father in sharing all my emotion, tears, ****(embraces). But I realized, Otto, will not share my emotion, tears, but will simply shake my hand and we will have a very civilized time and ***************. ********.

I don't know, how we share (embrace). Also, I don't know the **** parts.

    Please help me.

    Re: rephrase it

He wanted to meet this man called Otto. As this was the last time he would meet this guy (a second father to him) he thought they would both cry, embrace and just plain behave like a son who is separated from his father. But he knew that Otto would probably just shake his hand as if he was not that important to him. He was prepared for that reaction.

This is the best rephrasing I can muster.

    "that would be that."

This means "that's it". In other words, we can assume they would never meet again.

    Thank you.

Is there any meaning for (second father)?

    Re: rephrase it

As a matte of fact, there is!

If someone really matters to you, a man, who you consider plays the role of a father in your life, he is your second father.

In other words, while not being your biological father, you would still consider him to behave just like a real father does.
