    Smile on/in the weekend

I usually go to Stepping Stone Bookstore in/on the weekend.

Which sounds right, in/on/during the weekend?
Besides, could I say on weekends? Thanks.

    Re: on/in the weekend

I'm North American so for me it's "on", never "in". (It's the opposite, I believe, for British speakers of English.)

I go on the weekend. <now and then>
    I go on the weekends. <every weekend>
I go during the weekend. <at some time in that span of two days>

    Does that help?

    Re: on/in the weekend

As for the differences between AmE and British:

I do it at the weekend. (British). -any weekend, even this weekend

I do it on the weekend (AmE). - same

Do you work on weekends? (AmE) -same

Many people fail to work at weekends. (British). -same

You can, of course, also say "stay over the weekend" "what do you usually do during the weekend?"

    If I'm not mistaken...
