How to defferenciate 'in' and 'into'

Hi, if anyone could elaborate and give examples to me, how to defferenciate the prepositions of 'in' and 'into'?

    1. Put the knife in/into the drawer?
    2. Put the toys in/into the box?

    Thank you.

    Welcome, leelingnyan.

You may want to take a look here first: Prepositions of Direction: To, On (to), In (to)

    All the best.
