Ok, quite difficult for me as I don’t know how to put it, but I’ll try.
If in a whatever competition (like a marathon), “A” comes 1st and “B” comes second…..
I say: ”A” came first; after hims “B” or “A” came first; beyond him “B”………..?
is it better to say "to place first, second etc" or "to come"?

thanks a lot fot the clear explanation. Now everything is easier!!!! THANKS GOD I'VE FOUND YOU!
Incidentally, in the Italian grazie [a?] dio 'grazie' is a noun; but the English has a verb: 'thank God' (it's a wish: 'Let God be thanked' or, sometimes, 'I thank God').
thanks I didn't Know it!
