    Transformation of Sentence using 'prefer'

I like my ballet lessons. This is more fun and interesting than my tuition lessions.

How should the two sentences be joined using ‘prefer’?

I prefer (my) ballet lessons to (my) tuition lessions.

    Are the my’s necessary?

    Thank you very much.
