They turned the pages, which were yellow and crinkly, and it was awfully funny to read words that stood still instead of moving the way they were supposed to -- on a screen, you know. And then, when they turned back to the page before, it had the same words on it that it had when they read it the first time.
Please explain the highlighted words. [I can't understand the meaning of `crinkly' from a dictionary]
Picture this: you take a piece of paper, hold it in the palm of your hand, and then make a fist. You crunch the paper together in a ball. When you unfold the paper, we would describe it as "crinkly." Just like the wrinkled flesh of a very old person, or the edges of lasagne noodles. Something that isn't smooth and has very fine lines and wrinkles.
