    Asking questions

Could you tell me and explain what sentence is right?
    - the ode was original a ceremonial poem to celebrate public occasions or exalted subjects.
    - the ode was originated a ceremonial poem to celebrate public occasions or exalted subjects.

    What's wrong in these sentences:
    - knowdlege of the rate at which a ship is travelling through the water is important if the navigator need to estimate the time of arrival.
    - Robert Frost was not well known as a poet until he reached the forties.
