    Are these two the same?
    Is past tense not possible. past tense is only used for something that can never be true..such as visitng Mars, right. If today was Sunday, and you are not free, this sentence is correct, right?Because there is no chance of this becoming true

    If you were free Sunday, We could go out
    If you are free Sunday, We can go out

    Sam: If you were free Sunday, we could go out (but you're not free, so we can't go out).
    Pat: That's right. I'm not free, so we can't go out Sunday.

    Sam: If you are free Sunday, we can go out.
    Pat: Sounds great. I'll check my schedule and get back to you. We should definitely go out, if, that is, I am free.
