    Help on 15th may 07

    Hi there,

I was doing an exercise here online for Tenses & prepositions, but I got few questions wrong. I couldn't get these exactly. Can you please help with these

    1. "This is the first time I tried it". Is this correct sentence.

2."He worked there until recently". Is this correct sentence.
Can you please explain here what is the meaning of this sentence because I couldn't get it.

    Thanks
    Anish Sharma.

    Hi There,

Thankyou very much for this nice reply, but can you please clearify one thing here in my first sentence.

    1. "This is the first time I tried it", like you I also thought that it is the right answer but when I checked my answer this was wrong.

Can you please tell me why is that.

I was doing Past simple or Present Perfect exercise.

and please tell me if I say

    2. "You was responsible for this". Is this sentence correct?

If yes then what is the difference between the following sentences?

    "You was responsible for this".

    "You were responsible for this".

    Thanks in advance.

    1. "This is the first time I tried it", I was doing Past simple or Present Perfect exercise.

    Past simple of "to be"=
    • I was
    • he was
    • she was
    • it was
    • we were
    • they were
    • you were

    2. "You was responsible for this". Is this sentence correct? No

    "You were responsible for this".
