    Not a groat! just a it of polish for the ego.

    Question : Are moderators getting salarly/commission for their service/help?

    This question is haunting me for many days.

    Answer (by a Moderator) : Not a groat! Just a bit of polish for the ego.

    groat - old coin of very small value (4 old pence - less than 2p). 'Not a groat' = 'Nothing at all'.

    'a bit of polish for the ego' - the ego is defined here: Id, ego, and super-ego - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ; it is, in very broad terms, the image we have of ourselves. If it is 'polished', we feel better about ourselves.
