    Talking kid

In some newspaper articles I read this phrase:Only in New York, kids ,Only in New York
It is a little bit ironic, because it means that certain things just happen in New York.I would like to know, the meaning of kids... in fact it is not refferring to young people only...I think it is referring to all the people who read the I wrong? any other suggestion? and if I am right, do you know the reason of the choice of using KIDS?
    Thank you so much!!!

    Re: kid

Usually "kids" refers to children, but sometimes it can also be used as a less formal collective term meaning the same thing as "folks" or "you guys."
