    "Their" or "them"

    Greetings!

    I keep coming across people using "their" in sentences similar to the following:

    "[...] we would like to indentify lands of some value prior to their being occupied by third parties."

    Does that sound correct or should one use "them" instead of "their"?

    It's perfectly correct and is preferred by more traditional grammars and in formal language.
