Question Are both sentences correct ? With DO ?Pls clarify !

    Hello.

I am sure this sentence is correct:

Do you play tennis in the afternoon ?

how about this one ? Is it possible to reverse the word order ? If not, why ?

In the afternoon, do you play tennis ?

A friend told me her English teacher said that BOTH ways are acceptable. Would the second be correct only becuase you want to stress the idea of WHAT is done in the afternoon ?

I hope somebody can help me with this doubt .

    Thank you very much,
    Martina

    Yes both are correct.
In the second sentence you should use a different tone.

Thank you very much. I believe the first sentence is more used than the second one.

    Thanks again

    Hello Marticg,

I would agree with Aous, and call both sentences correct.

As you suggest, the first sentence is the more usual form. The second focuses on the time of playing tennis: the speaker has some special reason for asking about afternoons.

    All the best,

    MrP
