    Which sentence is most appropriate

    Mary fell down.

    1. Her knee had a cut.
    2. Her knee suffered a cut.
    3. She cut her knee.

    Which sentence/s is/are correct?

    Thanks in advance.

I don't know, but I'd rather say, She had/got her knee cut, instead.
To me, the last of the three alternatives somehow implies something as if she had cut her knee on purpose.

Re: Which sentence is most appropriate

Number 3 would be the most natural usage for native speakers of my dialect of Standard American English.

Number 1 is uncertain if the fall caused the cut.

Number 2 is stilted and awkward.
