Smile the meaning of these sentences

Could you please paraphrase the meaning of the following:
'Nobody was moderating my training apart from myself. I just ticked away and did my own thing'.
what does 'tick away' here means?, and 'moderate my training'?
    Thanks in advance
    Linda

Re: the meaning of these sentences

Hello Linda, welcome to Using English!

"Nobody was moderating my training" probably means: "no one was monitoring my training and making sure that I didn't make mistakes".

"To tick away" is "to proceed in a quiet and methodical manner", like a clock ticking, or a wristwatch.

    All the best,

    MrP
