Are kindergarten and preschool playgroup the same?
In the US, pre-school is not the same thing as kindergarten. The "curriculum" for pre-schools is not structured nor mandated by law. Kindergarten, however, is the official first year of public schooling for children, and there are certain prescribed lessons that must be learned during that year. For example, they must be able to tie a shoe, they must be able to follow oral instructions, be able to identify things like colors, shapes, days of the week, etc.
Pre-school mainly teaches children to get along together, to share, and to follow the teacher's instructions.
