    WHich of the two, please?

    He receives a decoration for the important professional and social merits achieved in his career/during his career

    Hi ,
    hmmm..tough one! I would go with "in". However, the present tense "receives" is odd here, as is "decoration" and possibly "merits" as well!
    Perhaps:
    He received recognition for the important professional and social achievements made in his career
