When you say " for what it's worth " to some one what are sthe deffinitions . or what does this mean.
"For what it's worth, the newspapers say the world is to end tomorrow." : You can either believe or disbelieve them.
A "Your essay is really good. I think it should get a top mark."
B "For what it's worth!"
Here, it's used as a show of false modesty - you are well aware you have written a good essay but are pretending to dismiss it.
