    need advice

    Hi teachers

I need some advice especially from UK teachers. A friend of mine is travelling to London this weekend on business and he offered to buy an English grammar book for me, but I don`t know any authors` names or titles of best English grammar books[Standard English].
Could you ,please, help me ?

Thank you very much in advance.

    Hi teia ,

I'm not a teacher, but would like to recommend you the following set of books.

-Essential English Grammar by Raymond Murphy
-Intermediate English Grammar also by Raymond Murphy
-Basic English Usage by Michal Swan

Also, do buy a good English English learner dictionary (like "Oxford intermediate Learners Dictionary" if you really want to learn English.

PLUS https://www.usingenglish.com/amazon/us/0194420981.html - THE ULTIMATE- recommended to me by Tdol. JUST AMAZING !

    Happy learning!

    Cheers

    Hi Udara

Thank you for your help. I appreciate it, but I`d like to see some other authors of English grammar books [ I already have some copies of the ones you`ve mentioned]. I forgot to write in my message that I`d like some Advanced English Grammar titles of books.

I already have an Oxford English Dictionary, as well.

    Thank you very much

    Regards

    Re: need advice

    Hi
    Then what about books like,
-Communicative Grammar of English Language by Svarvk & Leech (spelling may well be wrong though)
-Students Grammar of English Language by Loard Quirk & Greenbough
    -University Grammar of EL
-Comprehensive Grammar of English Language by Loard Quark
    -Collins English Grammar

Hope I didn't offend you by recommending some elementary level books through my previous reply.

    Cheers

    Hi Udara

Thank you so much! The titles [of the books] are very interesting. I`ll write them down. You`ve made me curious.
No, you did not offend me ! I am not so sensitive ! Anyway, when talking in another language than your native one, anybody can be misunderstood, but you did not make any mistake. You wanted to be of help and I appreciate that. Thank you again.
    Regards
