    He has wits about him.

    a mature wisdom about him.


    I can't understand the meaning of the sentences because of the preposition `about' in these sentences.

    Could you assist me?

    He has his wits about him = he is alert and aware of all that is happening

    There is a sense of mature wisdom about him = he appears very wise.
