    With or without "the"

We say "the Bank of China".
    What about "Hong Kong Bank"?
What would we say, "The Hong Kong Bank" or "Hong Kong Bank"?
    Thanks.

    .
Either may work-- it depends on precisely how the bank has named itself. Is it this one-- The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited?

Oh yeah, it is the short form of The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited. So we have to use "the Hong Kong Bank"?
    Thank you.

I don't think you 'have to', but it would be more appropriate in careful writing, at least.

The use of the article, as I said, is used on a case-by-case basis: Ford Motor Company, The Boing Company, The First National Bank of Ipswich, First National Bank, First National Bank of Fort Smith. So you should check with an authoritative source (the company's homepage, for instance) in each case.

Often the article is dropped from older names, and often a name develops a short form: The Boeing Company is more often just calle 'Boeing'.

I see, thank you. However, I think "the Hong Kong Bank" is more appropriate, as Hong Kong Bank would be misleading, which could mean one of the banks in Hong Kong.
