    Present progressive future

    Hi there,teachers, friends :

Present progressive is used to talk about future arrangemtnts. However may I know whether it is possible in the following situation:

Say, Mr. X decides (today) to meet Mr. Y on 10 July 2007. He by himself decides the time & place, hoping/knowing that Mr.Y wouldn't mind them (mind you though, Mr. Y is still clueless about this meeting).
Mr. X meets, say, Ms. B today evening.
Can Mr. X say: "I'm meeting Mr. Y next Tuesday? If not gramatically possible, what would be the best way to express this: I would be most obliged if someone could possibley explain this to me.

    Cheers
    Udara

    Re: Present progressive future

    Hi Harry :
    Many thanks for the answer.
Also, could you tell me which of the followings is most appropriate in that context, or if you were to say so how would you express it?

-I'm going to meet Mr.Y next Tuesday.(If I use "going to", does it imply that there's an arrangmet?)
    -I'm meeting Mr.Y next Tuesday.

    Cheers

"I am going to meet Mr.Y next Tuesday" is a future plan.
"I'm meeting Mr. Y next Tuesday" is a fixed action in the future.
    Cheers!
