    what is the difference between satisfactory and satisfying ? thay are both adj. but it seems they are used in different way.

    Something that is satisfactory meets expectations. It is okay. It's often no better than okay - not good, not great, not particularly pleasing.

    Something that is satisfying pleases you. It fulfills you.

    If you tell your hostess the meal was satisfactory, it's a little insulting, but if you tell her how satisfying it was, it's a compliment.
