Arrow Begining a sentence with" given that"

In the name of the Merciful Allah,
Hi, read this"Given that the majority of people in my research and those of my colleagues are impacted by situational forces, it is the minority, the rare person, who resists".I'm asking about the first two words, what is the latent? What is the underlying rule in grammer of this? Thanks in advance.
