    ago/before

In the story, it is stated that "The dog killed a boy ten years ago."

When I answer the question "When did the dog kill a boy?", which of the following should I say:

    1. The dog killed a boy ten years ago.

    2. The dog killed a boy ten years before.

    Thanks in advance.

Use the first one. If you say before you have to answer the question Before what?
