    What is 'boundary issues'?

    It's from Friends, the sitcom.

    *context: Monica and Chandler have been trying to conceive a baby but it turned out they can't. but Monica wants to have a baby so bad, so Chandler was sorry so he brought his friend to find out if he's the right person to be their birth father...they knew it was crazy but they made very uncomfortable questions and freaked him out. so Chandler wants to appologize their behavior next day and said...

    Chandler: Look, I just wanted to apologize for last night. I got the feeling we made you a little uncomfortable.

    Zack: No you didn't.

    Chandler: Really?

    Zack: No you did.

    Chandler: My wife and I have some boundary issues, you know, sometimes we ask inappropriate questions. We're working on it.

    What's boundary issues?;;

    Thank you in advance.!!

    Re: What is 'boundary issues'?

    "Boundaries" in this context refer to limits on appropriate subjects for discussion or what you would ask someone to do.

    Asking someone if they have children is a relatively normal question. Asking why someone doesn't have children goes outside of normal boundaries.

    Generally, asking personal questions would be a sign that you don't understand boundaries.

    Say:
    What is meant by the phrase "boundary issues"?
    Or:
    What are "boundary issues"?
