    Hi All,

    Which one of the following sentences is correct? I would appreciate it if you could explain your choice.

    1. It helps determine if tenants are paying rents that are above, at, or below sustainable levels.

    2. It helps to determine if tenants are paying rents that are above, at, or below sustainable levels.

    3. It helps in determining if tenants are paying rents that are above, at, or below sustainable levels.

    They are all grammatically correct. Which to use will be a personal preference.

    1 and 3 correct

    1. help - causative verb. Causative verbs can be followed by a bare infinitive [verb]; the only causative verb which is followed by a long infinitive is "get",
    e.g. I got him to do all the job

    3. help can be followed by preposition "in" + {verb+ing}
