    When you didn't bother to confirm whether the president of the company was a man or woman, and wrote her a letter that started "Dear Sir," you made a bit of a faux pas.

    Using profanity in front of your minister would be considered a faux pas.

    A: Oh, I'm sorry, sir. I didn't know that you were her father.
    B: I'm not. I'm her mother.

    This can be considered a faux pas, isn't it?
