    why or that ?

    Hi

I am not sure which of these two words fits in the following text.

Music is a huge part of a teenager`s life. ... We merely can`t live without it. Music can be used to understand different cultures. It`s no wonder why / that so many people have such a strong passion for music.

Are there any grammar mistakes in the text above? Shall I use "simply" instead of "merely"?

    Thank you very much.
