    Question Wondering.......

    Hello every one!!!
    I'm a new commer here. I've got some problems in writing language. So that,I'd like to ask for some helps.
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    Dear sir Or Dear madam????

    => I suppose, I write a formal letter for applying some jobs, then at the first, should I write " Dear sir" or " Dear madam" in case I dont know the gender of the receiver????

    If you don't know the gender of the recipient, then it is acceptable to open a formal letter with "Dear Sir or Madame." Another acceptable formula in this situation (which I also use on occasion) is "To whom it may concern."

    Then will we start the letter like this?

    ++++++++++++
    To whom it may concern,
    I write this letter.....
    ....
    ++++++++++++
    or
    ++++++++++++
    Dear sir o madam,
    I write this letter...
    ....
    +++++++++++

    Oh!!! I see. I see. Thanks a lot for answering.

    Re: Wondering.......

    "Dear Sir or Madame."

    We don't use "Madame" but "Madam".

    By the way, can you tell me what the difference between"receiver" and "recipient" is????

    No difference, but "receiver" can have another meaning [a person who receives stolen goods], so in business use "recipient" is the word to use.
