    Happen

_____________ an empty seat at the back of the bus
    a) She happened to find
    b) It happened to her that she found
Ok, here comes the problems. I am on the horns of dilema between the two. I think both are fine but my book said A is the best answer without an explanation.
    Anyone could help?

    Re: Happen

    b) is not good.
'It happened that she found an empty seat at the back of the bus.' would be okay.

    Re: Happen

Why? I've come up againts this sentence once. My teacher told me that both are fine, but to use the more convenient, so a is right. I wonder why b does not fit because it seems grammatical, too

Yes. In the sense that the event affected her in some way. For example,

A: Did you hear? Max was in a car accident.
    B: When?
A: It/the accident happened to her yesterday afternoon.
