Mr. B : Don't worry. I too had been in that situation when I was at your age. I was also failed for two years, but then my parents motivated me and I managed to get over it. Now I am a graduate as you know.

A: I have failed twice in two years. I am totally frustrated and I'm going to kill myself / commit suicide.

B: Don't worry. I was in the same situation at your age. I failed twice running, but my parents motivated me and I managed to get over it. Now, as you know, I am a graduate.

    Thank you Anglika.
Why I can't use the "had been" instead of "was"? Because it does make sense to my ear though I don't know reason for it.
