    article before an adjective

    Hi All,

Which one of the following sentences is more conservative?

I feel that there should be a 'the' before 'strong' as the 'demand' is specific.

    1. Strong demand for office properties in Paris region was a major growth driver.

2.The strong demand for office properties in Paris region was a major growth driver.

    Thanks,

    MG.

    Re: article before an adjective

You don't need 'The' before "strong", but it is not wrong with 'The'. You do need 'the' before "Paris". (in the Paris region)

Use the if you are talking about a specific demand which is known both to you and to your listeners or readers.

Are you saying that 'The' is needed before "demand" in the sentence we are talking about?

I thought ' for office properties in Paris region ' explains the 'demand' ( and hence makes it specific).

    Re: article before an adjective

I don't notice any significant difference in meaning between:

    1. Strong demand for office properties in [the] Paris region was a major growth driver.

    2. The strong demand for office properties in [the] Paris region was a major growth driver.

    3. A strong demand for office properties in [the] Paris region was a major growth driver.

    Personally, I prefer #2.
