    How do you do?

I am writing a letter to a friend after a long time.

I started with like this :
How do you do? How are you and everyone in your family?

Do you think this is correct?

    Please help me.

No. "How do you do?" is only used when meeting a person face to face.

    Thank you Anglika.
You agree, I think, that this sentene is correct.

How are you and everyone in your family?

    Re: How do you do?

Although you can't use "How do you do?" in this situation, "How are you doing?" is fine. (Go figure!) You could also ask, "How's it going?"
