Example 1 p.p. (through the agency of)Yours Truly,
p.p. Mary's signature
Example 2 p.p. (on behalf of)Yours Truly,
Mary's signatureNote that, p.p. has two meanings, per procura (meaning through the agency of) and per procurationem (meaning on behalf of):
p.p. Deacon/finance Board
[I]Per procura [I/] used to indicate that a person is signing a document on behalf of another person. Correctly placed before the name of the person signing, but often placed before the name of the person on whose behalf the document is signed, sometimes through incorrect translation of the alternative abbreviation per pro.
