    what is the use of ( do ) before (be)
    i came across this sentence in a novel

    "do" placed in front of the verb makes your statement stronger.

    For instance:

    Do you really know what are you talking about? - Yes, I do know

    There is an emphasis in this sentence. It means that I am quite definite about it.

    i think 'do' here is to emphasize 'be nice'.This understanding is suitable with the context.

    We do not have this context, so are replying to the information given. On that basis, "do" is an intensifier. If you can give the full context, maybe we will find another answer.
