    could you please tell me which of these is correct:

    1) The guarantee period of the works is 12 months.
    2) The guarantee period for the works is 12 months.
    3) Other

    The guarantee period lasts for twelve months.

    Are you wanting to ask if the length of time that the works will take is 12 months, or giving a promise that if anything goes wrong within twelve months, the supplier/contractor will repair or replace?

    Then the guarantee is for 12 months = it lasts twelve months.

    which is better:

    the guarantee period of the work is for 12 months

    Better still: The work is guaranteed for 12 months.

    Of your two sentences I think I prefer the first.
