    Question Idiom ?

    Please let me know what following phrase means.

    *Call a strike

    Example:
    Hindu nationalists called a strike to protest against the attacks blamed on Islamist militants.

    When you call a strike you ask the members of a union, example teachers, doctors, workers in a company, etc. to participate in a protest.

    And that protest takes the form of the withdrawal of labour.
