    opposite of put cross

I think we say "put cross" sign if we want to mark wrong. So I wonder what we say when we want to say mark correct. Do we say, "put right" sign?

    Tick (v) or [put a/mark with a] tick (n). [Similarly, it's 'put a cross.']

(The forum software will help you remember: : cross : without the spaces gives this sign - )

In the US, we don't say "tick," we say "check." If an answer is incorrect, we put an X by it (and usually refer to it as such, as in "mark an X by any wrong answers").

This can cause transatlantic misunderstandings. 'Check your answers' means different things, depending on whether the speaker is speaking Am E or Br E.
